Maria Elice de Brzezinski Prestes
Maria Elice de Brzezinski Prestes researches the history and philosophy of biology in Modernity, focusing on the methodological and epistemic aspects of studies on the generation of living beings between the 17th and 19th centuries, as well as seeking the sources of these studies. She is a senior associate professor in the Institute of Biosciences at USP, where she coordinates the Laboratory of History of Biology and Education. She is co-editor of the journal Filosofia e História da Biologia and works with the Brazilian Association of Philosophy and History of Biology and the International Society for the History, Philosophy and Social Studies of Biology. She is very interested in the methods of research into animals carried out by Aristotle. She is also dedicated to developing approaches to the history of biology in primary and higher education. She is a senior associate professor in the Department of Genetics and Evolutionary Biology of the Institute of Biosciences at USP, where she coordinates the Laboratory of History of Biology and Education. She is co-editor of the journal Filosofia e História da Biologia and works with the Brazilian Association of Philosophy and History of Biology and the International Society for the History, Philosophy and Social Studies of Biology.
