João Cortese
João Cortese is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the Institute of Biosciences at USP, where he leads Biófilo – Philosophy and Biology Lab. He is also an associate researcher at SPHERE Laboratory. He holds a joint degree PhD in Philosophy (USP) and in Epistemology and History of Science (Université de Paris 7). He is currently the vice-president of the Brazilian Association for the Philosophy and History of Biology. In this domain, his main actual interest is on the philosophical aspects of the history of mathematization and generalization of biology (focusing on evolutionary theory). He also does research in bioethics and ethics of artificial intelligence.
