Provisional agenda 8h30-9h00: Welcome coffee 9h00-9h30: What is the PHIRC? A powerful tool to promote scientific collaborations between French and USP researchers in the fields of agriculture, food and environment. [pillars coordinators] Will be presented the genesis of this 3rd international research center with USP [Fernando and/or Nathalie], the five thematic areas or “research pillars” [pillar coordinators] and the tools available to implement collaborations (joint projects, joint supervisions of masters, PhD and post-docs) [Fernando and/or Nathalie]. 9h30-11h00: Dialogs between USP and INRAE researchers on “Sustainable crop production systems: better understanding natural regulations/interactions in agro-ecosystems to find alternatives to pesticides” - Lessando Gontijo / Pierre Franck: ecological drivers of biological control and the role of ant trophic ecology (30 min) - Alberto Soares / Diego Santos-Garcia: genomics applied to systematics and adaptation in insects (30 min) - Nubia Eloy / Nathalie Gonzales: molecular mechanisms of plant development and applications to plant breeding (30 min) 11h00-11h30: Round discussion and/or questions from the audience The idea of this session is to illustrate collaborative projects under construction that are built based on common questions and complementary expertise from each side of the Atlantic sea.. 11h30-12h00: Feedbacks from early career researchers on “benefits of FR-USP collaboration (and existence of PHIRC): how this can help them in their current research project and future professional career” - Maria Gabriela Castro da Silva, PhD, after 6 months in FR - Isabella Rubio Cabral, PhD, planning to go to FR Feedbacks from senior researchers - Julien Brillard, short visit to USP - Eric Wajnberg, long visit to USP Presenters will expose in 5-10 min their research topic and explain why collaboration with a partner lab was beneficial (or not..) to their research and personal development 12h00-13h00: Conviviality lunch
